“I'm Breathless” es el séptimo álbum de Madonna, lanzado comercialmente el 22 de Mayo de 1990 por Sire Records, con una buena recepción por parte de las críticas. Contó con la producción de la misma Madonna, Patrick Leonard, Bill Bottrell, Kevin Gilbert y Shep Pettibone. El álbum forma parte de la banda sonora de la película “Dick Tracy”, protagonizada por Madonna misma y Warren Beatty y todas las canciones son interpretadas por Madonna a diferencia de su anterior álbum que formó parte de la banda sonora de “Who's That Girl” en el que solo interpretaba 4 temas.
El título del álbum esconde un doble sentido, ya que “Breathless” (sin aliento) es el nombre del personaje encarnado por Madonna en la película (Breathless Mahoney), por lo tanto, se puede traducir también como "Yo Soy Breathless”. En el álbum se incluyó una canción ajena al estilo del álbum: “Vogue”, que tuvo gran aceptación y repercusión y pasaría a ser uno de los temas más destacados de la carrera de Madonna hasta el día de la fecha. La RIAA lo certificó 'Oro', 'Platino' y '2x Platino' el 30 de Julio de 1990, logrando vender alrededor de 5 millones de copias en Estados Unidos y 13 millones de copias mundialmente. El álbum alcanzó el puesto #2 en la lista Billboard 200 consiguiendo la acreditación 'Platino' en tres meses. Una de las canciones del álbum, “Sooner or Later”, es considerada como una de las mas destacadas del álbum logrando ganar un Premio Oscar por “Mejor Canción Original” en 1991, donde incluso Madonna la interpretó en vivo. La revista Rolling Stone declaró “ninguna otra estrella pop pudo, o incluso podría crear un álbum como este”. Madonna comentó en una entrevista en 1998 que este álbum es uno de sus favoritos: “I love every song on that album” (amo cada canción de este álbum). / 






 
“I'm Breathless” is the seventh album by Madonna, released on May 22nd, 1990 by Sire records. The album is the soundtrack of the film “Dick Tracy”, starring Madonna and Warren Beatty, and every song is sung by Madonna. The RIAA certified it 'Gold', 'Platinum' & '2x Platinum' on Jul 30th, 1990, denoting two million shipments in the United States and worldwide has sold more than 5 million copies. The album included an extra song with a different style: “Vogue”, which nowadays, is one of the most popular songs by Madonna. The album reached #2 in Billboard 200. One of the album's song, “Sooner or Later” is considered one of the best from this album, and won the Academy Award for “Best Original Song” in 1991 and Madonna performed the song live at the award show. Rolling Stone magazine stated “no other pop star today could, or probably would, make an album like this”. Madonna commented in a 1998 interview that this album is one of her favourites: “I love every song on that album”.
