WHO'S THAT GIRL 1987
"Who's That Girl" is a 1987 American film by Warner Bros., starring Madonna and Griffin Dunne. Although popular among teenage audiences, the film did poorly both critically and financially. Its soundtrack, "Who's That Girl", was much more successful, spawning a number-one and two hits in the title song "Who's That Girl" and "Causing a Commotion" respectively. A third track, "The Look of Love", was a top 10 UK hit. The film was released on VHS on November 11, 1987 and later, on February 14, 2006, on DVD; there is also a laserdisc version for US and UK. Madonna plays Nikki Finn, a recently paroled criminal who was framed by the mafia for the murder of her boyfriend. Griffin Dunne plays Loudon Trott, an attorney engaged to the daughter of his boss. Trott agrees to escort Finn from the prison to the bus terminal as part of a social services program, but she has other plans - namely to prove her innocence, which takes him all across New York City. Various slapstick hijinks ensue along their adventure together. The film also features a cougar named Murray, a nod to Hawks' work.
