Madonna ha sido nombrada la artista solista femenina de mayores ventas de sencillos en la historia del Reino Unido.
Madonna ha vendido más de 17.800.000 singles sólo en el Reino Unido desde el debut en el chart de “Holiday”, en Enero de 1984.
La canción alcanzó el puesto nº6 y no fue sino hasta 1985 que Madonna se afirmó con su primer nº1 en Reino Unido con su single “Into the Groove”.
Sin embargo, Rihanna está subiendo rápidamente luego de haber pasado los 11.400.000 singles en el Reino Unido en sólo siete años, según informa The Official Charts Company y se estime que podría superar a Madonna en los próximos dos años y medio.
Kylie Minogue está en el tercer lugar de ventas con 10.200.000 de singles vendidos a través de su carrera de 25 años, mientras que Whitney Houston se encuentra en el cuarto lugar con 8.500.000 y Lady GaGa en el quinto lugar con 7.329.000.

Madonna has sold over 17.800.000 singles in the UK since her chart debut with “Holiday” back in January 1984.
The track peaked at number six and it wasn’t until 1985 that Madonna claimed her first UK number one single with “Into the Groove”.
However, Rihanna is quickly catching up with the legendary performer after shifting 11.400.000 singles in the UK in just seven years, reports The Official Charts Company and could realistically overtake Madonna’s lead within the next two and half years.
Kylie Minogue is at number three will 10.200.000 singles sold across her 25-year career, while Whitney Houston is at four with 8.500.000 and Lady GaGa is at five with 7.329.000.
