MADONNA SET TO DIRECT 'TAKING FLIGHT'.
Madonna dirigirá el drama de MGM "Taking Flight", basado en la vida de la bailarina Michaela De Prince.
Madonna dijo:
“El viaje de Michaela resonó profundamente conmigo como artista y como activista que entiende la adversidad. Tenemos una oportunidad única para arrojar luz sobre Sierra Leona y dejar que Michaela sea la voz de todos los niños huérfanos con los que creció. Me siento honrada de traer su historia a la vida.”
DePrince fue adoptada a la edad de cuatro años y llevada a los Estados Unidos por Elaine y Charles DePrince. Ella apareció en el documental de ballet de 2012 "First Position" y más tarde debutó como bailarina profesional a la edad de 17 años en el Joburg Ballet en Sudáfrica. Ella apareció en "Lemonade" de Beyonce en 2016 y actualmente es solista en el Ballet Nacional Holandés.
Madonna dirigirá el guión de Camilla Blackett ("New Girl"). Leslie Morgenstein y Elysa Koplovitz Dutton de Alloy Entertainment lo producirán junto a Ben Pugh y Guy Oseary. El presidente de MGM Production, Jonathan Glickman y Tabitha Shick están supervisando el proyecto en nombre del estudio. /
Madonna will direct the MGM drama “Taking Flight,” based on the life of ballerina Michaela De Prince.
Madonna said:
“Michaela’s journey resonated with me deeply as both an artist and an activist who understands adversity. We have a unique opportunity to shed light on Sierra Leone and let Michaela be the voice for all the orphaned children she grew up beside. I am honored to bring her story to life.”
DePrince was adopted at the age of four and taken to the United States by Elaine and Charles DePrince. She was featured in the 2012 ballet documentary “First Position” and later debuted as a professional dancer at the age of 17 in the Joburg Ballet in South Africa. She appeared in Beyonce’s “Lemonade” in 2016 and is currently a soloist at the Dutch National Ballet.
Madonna will direct from a screenplay by Camilla Blackett (“New Girl”). Alloy Entertainment’s Leslie Morgenstein and Elysa Koplovitz Dutton will produce alongside Ben Pugh and Guy Oseary. MGM Production president Jonathan Glickman and Tabitha Shick are overseeing the project on behalf of the studio.
