MADONNA TALKS ABOUT MALAWI ADOPTION CONTROVERSY: “IT WAS A REAL LOW POINT IN MY LIFE”.
Madonna habló acerca de cómo ella abordó las críticas que enfrentó después de la adopción de su hijo David en Malawi.
Madonna, que adoptó a David en un orfanato en Mchinji en 2006, describe estar bajo tal escrutinio como “un punto bajo real en mi vida”.
En la nota para la revista Harper's Bazaar, Madonna explicó:
“Yo no sabía que tratar de adoptar a un niño iba a aterrizar en otra tormenta de mierda. Pero lo hizo”.
“Me acusaron de secuestro, tráfico de niños, usando mi título de celebridad para saltar por sobre todo, sobornando funcionarios públicos, la brujería, lo que sea. Ciertamente yo había hecho algo ilegal!”.
Mis amigos trataron de animarme diciéndome que pensara en todo esto como si fueran los dolores de parto que todos tenemos que pasar cuando damos a luz. Esto fue vagamente reconfortante”.
“Una de las muchas cosas que he aprendido de todo esto es que si no estás dispuesto a luchar por lo que crees, entonces ni siquiera entres al ring”, añadió. /
Madonna talked about how she dealt with the criticism she faced after adopting her son David from Malawi.
Madonna, who met David in an orphanage in Mchinji in 2006, described being under such scrutiny as “a real low point in my life”.
On the Harper's Bazaar magazine November issue, Madonna said about it:
“I didn't know that trying to adopt a child was going to land me in another shit storm. But it did.”
“I was accused of kidnapping, child trafficking, using my celebrity muscle to jump ahead in the line, bribing government officials, witchcraft, you name it. Certainly I had done something illegal!.”
“Friends tried to cheer me up by telling me to think of it all as labor pains that we all have to go through when we give birth. This was vaguely comforting.”
“One of the many things I learned from all of this: If you aren't willing to fight for what you believe in, then don't even enter the ring,” she added.
